REKO was born from a simple truth: Filipino stories deserve to be read.
We saw talented Filipino authors struggling to get their work out there. Printing costs are high, marketing resources limited, and secure digital distribution nearly impossible. Meanwhile, through our work at BookSpine, we kept hearing the same question: “Where can I find Filipino-authored books?”
The digital revolution that transformed global publishing had somehow bypassed local literature. So we built REKO—a bridge connecting Filipino readers directly to Filipino authors. More than just selling eBooks, REKO is about making Filipino literature accessible, discoverable, and sustainable in the digital age.
Today, we’re in public beta, but you can already buy and access eBooks directly on your device and read them anytime, anywhere. This is just the beginning of our journey to transform how Filipino readers and authors connect.

REKO is a digital platform designed to make Filipino-authored books more accessible and to help authors and publishers reach the right readers. Through AI-powered recommendations, secure eBook distribution, and partnerships with industry stakeholders, our mission is to empower local authors and publishers, uplift local literature, and cultivate more Filipino readers.
BookSpine began as a circular economy platform that saved over 50,000 books from landfills through projects like the BookSpine e-commerce marketplace for secondhand books, the BookDonate program, the Books per Kilo warehouse, and the BookSpine Community. While these efforts made reading more accessible, the bigger challenge became clear: Filipino authors lacked visibility, distribution, and sustainable ways to reach readers.
That realization led to REKO—a platform where readers can easily discover and buy Filipino-authored eBooks, and authors can share their stories more widely. By bridging the gap between authors and readers, REKO is shaping the future of Filipino literature in the digital age.
