What is REKO?
REKO (short for “recommendation”) is your new favorite place to discover and read Filipino-authored eBooks—anytime, anywhere. Built by BookSpine Inc. and supported by DOST PCIEERD, REKO is a web platform (mobile app coming soon!) designed to promote local authorship and inclusive access to literature. Think of us as your book bestie + digital bookstore, library, and e-reader + Filipino recommendation engine—all in one.
Every book on REKO is proudly Filipino-authored. You’ll find books in Tagalog, English, Bisaya, and other local languages—spanning everything from Tagalog poetry to Bisaya romance, self-help to fantasy sagas. You can browse by genre, language, vibe, or even reading mood. Whether you’re looking for something comforting, thought-provoking, or kilig-worthy, we’ve got you.
Just go to app.reko.asia/signin. You can sign up with Google or your email—no downloads needed. Once logged in, you’ll have access to your personal library, profile, bookshelf upload, and purchase history.

We’ve designed REKO with local accessibility in mind. You can pay via most local payment methods like GCash, Maya, Debit or credit card, Over-the-counter payments, and direct debit transfers. More options coming soon as we expand.
Yes! Once you open a book online, it’s accessible offline (as long as you don’t close the browser), so you can keep reading even without internet. There’s no need to download anything separately—just keep the page open while offline and continue reading.
Short answer: It depends on the author or publisher.
All eBooks are available for reading via the REKO app to ensure secure access for all. However, some authors and publishers allow downloads, which means you can manually transfer the file to your e-reader (like Kindle or Kobo). Others prefer to keep their titles app-only for now.
- If downloads are enabled for a book:
You’ll see a download button with instructions after purchase. You can then manually send the file to your e-reader. We’re happy to provide step-by-step instructions for Kindle or other devices. - If downloads aren’t enabled yet:
You can request it! Just let us know your order number and the book title/s—we’ll reach out to the author or publisher and see if they’re open to enabling it (some say yes on a case-by-case basis!)
Will this change in the future?
Yes. We’re enabling downloads on a rolling basis as we receive consent from authors and publishers. If you’ve already purchased a book, you’ll automatically gain access to future downloadable versions when they become available (e.g., EPUB).

Right now, eBooks on REKO are available in PDF, EPUB, or sometimes both—it depends on what the author or publisher provides. But here’s the best part:
If you purchase a book today that only has a PDF, and an EPUB version becomes available later, you’ll automatically get access to that too—no extra charge. Once you own it, you own all future formats.
We’re actively working with our partner authors and publishers to make EPUB the default for every book on the REKO platform for inclusive accessibility. This ensures a smoother, more consistent reading experience—especially as we prep for our upcoming subscription model.

Absolutely. Every eBook you buy on REKO is legitimately licensed and protected with DRM (Digital Rights Management). That means every purchase directly supports the author or publisher. We’re here to uplift Filipino creatives, not exploit them.
All eBooks on REKO are protected using Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology and by default are only accessible via in-app streaming (like how Netflix or Spotify works). This means books cannot be illegally copied, shared, or downloaded unless explicitly allowed by the author or publisher. We also apply watermarks and proprietary security protocols on downloadable files to protect authors’ intellectual property while still offering reader flexibility.
We give you personalized REKOs (recommendations) based on your reading behaviors, mood, interests, and even your own bookshelf—yes, you can upload a photo of your books! (Features coming soon.)
Behind the scenes, we use a mix of:
– Your reading preferences and onboarding quiz results
– Your profile activity and book choices
– Your uploaded bookshelf or favorite genres
– Our proprietary AI tech + a team of human curators handpicking titles for you

REKO’s AI is built ethically. We do not and will not use your eBooks, manuscripts, or copyrighted content to train or power our AI systems. We only use data we own (e.g. book tags, reader behavior, and platform activity) and data provided by you for marketing & discovery purposes (e.g. synopsis and blurbs) to help readers find books they’ll love.
Our AI exists to help your work get discovered—not duplicated, mined, or mimicked. Think of it like Spotify or Netflix’s recos: smart, helpful, and always with full respect for your intellectual property.
Yes, and we take this seriously. REKO uses ethical, homegrown AI. Our AI models are proprietary, built with our own Research & Development team supported by the Department of Science & Technology PCIEERD. We do not use AI to train on, modify, or replicate any book content.
